Women’s, Men’s and Pelvic Health Physiotherapy is the longest established, dedicated continence, pelvic floor and pelvic health physiotherapy practice, in the Northern Rivers region.
There are two locations of practice, Murwillumbah and Tyalgum (west of Murwillumbah). What to expect in a consultation?
Respect, confidentiality and professionalism are guaranteed. The pelvis and pelvic floor area are intimate parts of ourselves, both physically and on an emotional/mental level. Typically, the first physiotherapy session is 1 hour to enable thorough assessment and understanding. It will include history taking and physical examination. Treatment may then continue over a few sessions, usually 3-6 sessions, sometimes more, depending on the complexity of health issues. Treatment will include education and a realistic home programme tailored for each individual. Treatment may involve specific pelvic floor retraining – strength and relaxation exercises, biofeedback including real time ultrasound, exercise programmes for general fitness that are safe for you and your unique situation, ‘hands on’ manual physiotherapy techniques, bladder or bowel re-training, relaxation training, dietary advice, perineal skin care, product suggestions, pessary fitting and recommended lifestyle modifications.

Mentoring
I offer mentorship to those starting out on their pelvic health career. With 25 years experience as a pelvic health physiotherapist, I have much to pass on. I have mentored physiotherapists, exercise physiologists, yoga teachers, and sexologists. I am a guest lecturer at Southern Cross University in their Women’s Health component, and have had several Osteopathy students in placements. Mentorship can be via telephone or video call, for an agreed period or as casual sessions. We can also arrange practical sessions. Please contact me for further information, and payment options.
